SprayQuantAI® — AI for Spray Measurement and Monitoring
SprayQuantAI represents our use of artificial intelligence to characterize individual droplets and monitor sprays. It combines AI with our optical spray measurement technology, based on the Time-Shift Time-of-Flight (TSTOF) technique. Abbreviated as SQA, the brand includes the SQA1 and SQA2 measurement instruments.
The name combines Spray, Quant, referring to light quanta or photons, and AI. Together, these elements describe the underlying concept: using light and artificial intelligence to determine droplet properties within a spray.
The research that prompted the trademark registration was subsequently published in Applied Optics. It demonstrated an approach in which a machine learning model is trained using information from four signals, then determines particle size and velocity from a single signal during operation. This enables a simpler optical arrangement with one detector instead of four and one light source instead of two, supporting more compact measurement instruments.

ParticleTensorAI® — Turning Optical Signals into Material Information
ParticleTensorAI represents an approach in which continuous signals from our optical measurement instruments are organized into structured numerical arrays called tensors. These tensors can also be represented as RGB images and analyzed using AI methods developed for image processing. Abbreviated as PTA, the brand includes the PTA1, PTA2, and PTA4 measurement instruments.
The name combines Particle, encompassing particles and droplets; Tensor, describing the structured representation of the measurement data; and AI, the tools used to extract information from those data.
Our first published application investigated coal particles suspended within droplets of a coal–monoethylene glycol slurry spray. Light-scattering signals were converted into RGB representations and used to train neural networks to classify the average size and mass concentration of the suspended coal particles. This demonstrated the potential to obtain information about the material within droplets from continuous optical signals.

SprayConeAI represents our use of AI tools to support the image-based analysis of spray cones and spray patterns. It brings this concept into a web-based application for analyzing images of sprays produced by pneumatic atomizers.
The name combines Spray, Cone, and AI, expressing the goal of making spray geometry accessible through digital image analysis.
The application was first presented in our article Digitale Analyse unterstützt die Handlackierung (“Digital Analysis Supports Manual Spray Painting”), published in JOT Journal für Oberflächentechnik in 2026.
