Our patents and patent applications at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) cover optical measurement methods for particles, droplets and sprays. For each document you will find the main drawing, the most important register data and the official documents.
DE 10 2014 211 514 B4
Method for determining the throughput, volume flow and mass flow of particles

The method uses two time-shift measuring units whose light beams cross at an angle in the measurement volume. Particles that pass through both beams are identified from their light-scattering signals. This allows the throughput, volume flow and mass flow of particles to be determined in addition to their size and velocity.

DE 10 2015 101 639 A1
Method for evaluating the time-resolved intensity profile of radiation associated with an object to be measured

The radiation scattered by a moving object is split into at least two partial beams that are recorded by separate detectors. Multiplying the time-resolved detector signals suppresses noise, so that the useful signal can be identified reliably.

DE 10 2023 110 189 A1
Method and device for the calibration-free determination of the radius of a nearly rotationally symmetric body using shadowing technology

A strongly diverging light beam projects an enlarged shadow of a nearly rotationally symmetric body onto a line detector with staggered pixels. The positions of the shadow edges give the radius or diameter without calibration, also during a running process such as filament winding.

DE 10 2023 134 228 A1
Method and device for characterising particle properties by evaluating a scattered-light signal with a machine-learning model and reducing the primary apparatus

A machine learning model is trained with data from a primary apparatus with two light sources and four detectors. After training, a reduced apparatus with one light source and one detector determines particle size, velocity and refractive index from a single light-scattering signal.

DE 10 2025 100 487 A1
Method and device for measuring the composition of dynamic paint particles for monitoring a coating process in spray painting

Two detectors record the light scattered by paint droplets that pass a shaped light beam. The time order of the signal peaks distinguishes semi-transparent from non-transparent droplets. Their relative number characterizes the composition of the paint droplets and supports the monitoring of spray painting processes.
