SprayQuantAI® combines an optical measurement probe with a control unit and evaluation software. The probe records time-resolved light-scattering signals from droplets. The control unit acquires and processes these signals and provides measurement results to the host computer or external systems.
Measurement Probe
The optical probe defines the measurement region and detects the scattered light generated by droplets passing through it. The optical configuration is selected according to the spray, installation space and required working distance.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Measurement object | Droplets in sprays and flows |
| Measurement method | Time-resolved light-scattering signal analysis |
| Typical working distance | 125 mm |
| Available working distances | 62.5 mm, 125 mm and 250 mm |
| Typical laser wavelength | 405 nm |
| Typical laser output power | 3 mW |
| Intended minimum droplet size | Approximately 1 µm |
| Probe dimensions | 182 × 74.9 × 32 mm |
The wavelength and laser power shown above describe the usual SprayQuantAI® configuration. Other optical configurations may be selected for specific measurement tasks.
Control Unit
The control unit acquires the optical detector signals, runs the configured calculation electronics and communicates with the host computer. It also provides interfaces for connecting SprayQuantAI® to test equipment and process-control systems.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Host communication | Ethernet |
| Digital inputs | 4 |
| Digital outputs | 4 |
| Current-loop inputs | 4 |
| Current-loop outputs | 4 |
| Trigger interfaces | Trigger input and trigger output |
| Dimensions | 251 × 211 × 109 mm |
The available analog and digital interfaces depend on the control-unit configuration. Confirm the required inputs and outputs when specifying a system for integration.
Measurement Results
In its standard measurement mode, SprayQuantAI® determines droplet size, velocity and number or rate. Additional results depend on the selected evaluation method, system configuration and measurement task.
System Configurations
