ZEON Control Unit

ZEON control unit for SprayQuantAI SQA1 and ParticleTensorAI PTA1

ZEON is the control, signal-acquisition, and processing unit used with the LSS1 optical probe. The same hardware platform is used for SprayQuantAI® SQA1 and ParticleTensorAI® PTA1.

The operating mode is determined by the configured firmware, signal-acquisition workflow, calculation method, and evaluation software. This allows the same ZEON hardware to support different measurement concepts without changing the optical probe.

Function

ZEON receives the time-resolved light-scattering signal from the LSS1 optical probe. The unit performs signal acquisition, processing, calculation, communication with the host computer, and the input/output functions required for integration into laboratory or industrial measurement systems.

Depending on the configured product mode, the acquired signal can be evaluated as individual particle events or retained as buffered time-series data for AI-based analysis.

ZEON in SprayQuantAI® SQA1

In SQA1, ZEON acquires and processes the signal from individual droplets or particles. The recorded time-resolved light-scattering signal is evaluated using the configured SprayQuantAI® calculation method.

Depending on the application and software configuration, SQA1 can use classical signal-processing methods or AI-based algorithms to determine particle or droplet properties and to monitor the stability of the spray process.

ZEON in ParticleTensorAI® PTA1

In PTA1, ZEON uses the same optical input and hardware platform but a different acquisition and evaluation concept. Instead of evaluating only individual particle events, time-resolved light-scattering data are collected over a defined acquisition interval and retained for ParticleTensorAI® processing.

The resulting buffered signal information is transformed into the data structure used by the AI model. This enables ParticleTensorAI® to analyze not only individual signal features but also the statistical and temporal information contained in a larger population of droplets or particles.

Industrial Integration

ZEON is designed not only for measurement and data acquisition but also for integration into automated processes. Ethernet communication provides the connection to the host computer, while digital and analog interfaces can be used to exchange status, control, trigger, and process signals with external equipment.

The 4–20 mA interfaces make it possible to connect the measurement system to established industrial control and monitoring environments. Depending on the configured software, calculated spray or particle parameters can therefore be transferred to higher-level process-control systems.

One Hardware Platform, Two Measurement Concepts

ZEON illustrates the modular concept of the ai-quanton measurement platform. The optical probe and control-unit hardware can remain unchanged while the signal-acquisition and evaluation concept is adapted to the measurement task.

With SprayQuantAI® SQA1, the focus is on the evaluation of individual droplets or particles and continuous spray monitoring. With ParticleTensorAI® PTA1, the same signal source is used for buffered AI-based analysis of a larger particle population and material-related properties.
